For Laurie Killingsworth, becoming a woman after God’s heart has been her desire since she began to walk with Him as a child. With more than 40 years of ministry experience, 40+ years of marriage (to the same man!), and over 100 combined years of parenting, she communicates the reality of Jesus Christ in a woman’s world with a passionate focus on real life.Laurie grew up in Colorado and attended two years of Bible college in Michigan and California, after which she transferred to Arizona State University where she served one year as Miss Wool of Arizona, and became involved with Campus Crusade for Christ International. She traveled for a year with an evangelistic music group, "The New Folk," singing on college campuses around the country, and then married, Tip, her college sweetheart. In 1969 she joined the full-time staff of Campus Crusade and served with them for 30 years before she and Tip started their own ministry. Tip and Laurie ministered to college students at the University of Alabama for two years followed by another two years traveling as the advance team for the Athletes In Action weightlifting team out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After four months of training in the Watts area of Los Angeles, they left the U.S. in January '75 to serve as missionaries to both college students and adults in Ireland for nearly twelve years. During those years they were blessed with four children ... Trey, Jason, Joshua, and Trinity.
After returning to the U.S. in 1986, they spent five years in Southern California, ministering to professional athletes and their families, the LA Rams, LA Raiders and NBA Clippers. During this time Laurie taught a Bible study of 200 women at Saddleback Valley Community Church and began to speak for retreats on becoming "A Woman After God’s Heart." They moved to Orlando, FL in 1991 with the relocation of the Campus Crusade for Christ world headquarters, and in February 1994 they adopted Karis Love, their African-American daughter. While serving as the National Field Coordinator for "Mothers Who Care," Laurie felt called of God to challenge women to personal revival ... a life of power, purity and prayer. She developed PASSIONATE HEARTS, an international retreat and conference ministry for women.
Tip and Laurie relocated to Lynchburg, Virginia in 2002 where their two youngest children attend Liberty University. Tip teaches at LU, is pursuing his doctorate, and has served as a pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Tip and Laurie have four married children and four grandchildren. Laurie has led more than fifty women’s conferences around the U.S. over the last ten years with amazing results. Her book "One Passionate Heart" was published in '02. |
